All Roads Lead To Rome!

the ColiseumRome is one of the main European cities, which used to be a political and cultural center of the powerful Roman Empire. During the Renaissance the best Italian masters tried their best to turn the Italian capital into one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
"The city all roads lead to", "the city of seven hills" - that's all about marvelous Rome. The history of the Italian capital counts more than thirty centuries. The epochs changed, and each of them left a mark on the city. Temples and forums of the Antiquity, palaces and basilicas of the Renaissance, Baroque fountains and XIXth century museums form a unique style of Rome. Historical monuments are in the true sense of the word at every turn. It will take no less than several days to observe at least the main Roman sights: the Roman Forum, the Palatine Hill, Santa Maria in Cosmedin, the Capital Hill, the Victor Emmanuel Monument, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, Santa Maria della Concezione...
The eternal magic of Rome lies in the ability to unite the Ancient and the Present. No one will be disappointed as the city offers something to everyone's liking!

Admirable Trevi Fountain

Admirable Trevi FountainThe most famous and probably the most beautiful Rome fountain is the masterpiece by Nicola Salvi who based his project on Bernini's design. The latter was a great admirer of theatrical effects what resulted in the grand outward appearance of the fountain. The small Trevi Square reminds of an ancient amphitheatre and the fountain itself is like a magnificent stage, in the center of which resides Neptune, god of the sea. He is riding a shell-shaped chariot, pulled by two sea-horses. Tritons on each side show the way between the rocks. One of the sea-horses is calm while the other is unruly. They symbolize the changeable moods of the sea. Two statues in the background represent Abundance and Salubrity. Above the sculptures are graceful bas-reliefs.
The bottom is bestrewed with coins: according to the ancient legend, those who want to come back in the wonderful city of Rome should throw a coin into the fountain. In 1991 the local government prohibited to do this, but the tradition beat the ban. It was calculated that every day more than EUR 1500 is left in the Trevi fountain.
