This is the second of three ballets composed in 1889. The original scenario was created by Ivan Vsevolozhsky who based it on Charles Perrault's La Belle au bois Dormant. The premiere took place at the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint.Petersburg in 1890 and met with great success.
