Il corsaro

For the first time Teatro dell'Opera di Roma invites you to "Il corsaro" - ballet in three acts, performed by a cast of Russian and Italian dancers, with many internationally recognized names among them. The ballet is based on the world-famous poem by Lord George G. Byron (published in 1814), choreography by Viatcheslav Khomyakov. Boats and slaves, caves and filibusters, adventures and the eastern spirit, love and sufferings... that is what "Il corsaro" tells us about.

The first choreographic performance of "The Corsair" was staged in 1856 at the Théâtre National de l'Opera in Paris. The production in Rome is a new one, an absolute debut by Riccardo Drigo, Cesare Pugni, Adolphe-Charles Adam, Léo Delibes. Visit "Il corsaro" May 20 - 29.
