Hilton Hotels Corporation has announced that the 370-room Rome Cavalieri Hilton hotel, well-known for its collection of antique art and period furniture, will become the first European hotel to join the Waldorf Astoria Collection.

The hotel is located in a 15-acre park and offers scenic views of the historic centre of Rome. Not only does it boast the largest conference facility in Continental Europe, but is also the only Italian hotel with a Michelin-rated three star restaurant, "La Pergola."

The Rome Cavalieri will become a part of the The Waldorf Astoria Collection this spring. This step is aimed at attracting Middle East travelers to the hotel. A number of new facilities will be added to the property within the coming 12 months, including the third outdoor swimming pool and a new modern Congress Centre. Mr. Wolfgang M. Neumann, President for Hilton Hotels Europe, says that "The Gulf is an extremely important market for the hotel", and a number of services will be offered to cater for the needs of its Middle Eastern guests.
