April 22 - 27 Teatro dell'Opera, also known as the Teatro Costanzi, meets you with an opera "Tosca" by a famous Italian composer Giacomo Puccini. Tosca is both acclaimed inside and outside Rome. This year the performance coincides with the composer's 150th anniversary.

Based on Victorien Sardou's drama, La Tosca, this is a dramatic story which is also often staged in North America, but is worth seeing in the first place at Teatro dell'Opera since it was here that in 1900 the opera was staged for the first time.

Tosca is an opera in three acts, the main parts are performed by Myrtò Papatanasiu/ Susanna Branchini (Floria Tosca), Giuseppe Gipali/ Maurizio Graziani (Mario Cavaradossi) and Mauro Buda alternating with Silvio Zanon in the role of Baron Scarpia. Directed by Franco Zeffirelli.
