View from Panoramic Point, right on the top of Gianicolo hill, walking distance from hotel. The crest of the Gianicolo hill, shaded by splendid umbrella pines,lined by busts of Garibaldi's men and a monument of Garibaldi himself(Italy's independence hero), followed by that of his wife Anita. The midday cannon fired daily below the parapet.Further on find the old stump, here once stood the oak tree beneath which Tasso (Poet 1544-1595) used to sit.From here as well, you may glimpse spectacular views of Rome: Castel Sant'Angelo, the Dome of San Giovanni dei Fiorentini, the Dome of San Carlo al Corso, Trinita dei Monti, the Quirinal Palace, the Pantheon, the Dome of Sant'Andrea della Valle with the lower dome of the Church of Jesus.
