House Of Emperor Augustus

List of Rome hotels Marriott Hotels Resorts and SuitesThe House of Emperor Augustus is opened on one of the Roman hills, the Palatine, after a long-term restoration. The construction, found by the archeologists in the 1960s, has been thoroughly restored for decades. Now everyone can see the interiors of the palace.
The House is supposed to have been built in 36 B.C. There are four rooms: a dining room, a living room, a sleeping room and a study. The rooms are small, intercommunicating, and are void of windows. The light comes through the door, which leads to the garden. With the opening of the House, the entrance to the Roman Forum became paid. The ticket costs EUR 11, and lets the curious tourists see round the Forum as well as the Colosseum and the Palatine Hill.

Emilio Vedova: The works

Emilio Vedova is one of the most important Italian contemporary painters. He started his career as an expressionist, but later was inclined to join the group "Corrente". He also participated in the Resistenza and was a leading figure in the post-war Italian art movement, which was opening up and contributing originally to the European avant-garde. In 1946 he signed the manifesto of the Fronte Nuovo delle Arti, which included several Italian artists who became very famous afterwards. In 1952 he entered Gruppo degli Otto (Afro, Birolli, Corpora, Santomaso, Morlotti, Vedova, Moreni, Turcato), organised by the critic Lionello Venturi. His work exerted a significant influence on the Arte Povera group.
From 7 October 2007 to 6 January 2008 Galleria Nazionale d'arte Moderna E Contemporanea is hosting an exhibition of his works. More than 150 paintings brought together from all over the world will be on display.
