20th Festival Musicale delle Nazioni

The 20th Festival Musicale delle Nazioni is a chance for the visitors both to enjoy poetry and classical music and observe the magnificent site of the Marcellus Roman Theater. June 5th - September 28th the venue welcomes guests with more than a hundred concerts and theater shows performed by celebrated international and Italian musicians, including Olivier De Spiegeleir, Hiroshi Takasu, Ede Ivan, Paolo Scanabissi, Yuko Kabeia and Vardo Rumessen.

Listen to the pieces by the world recognised composers, the true giants of classic music: Mozart, Bach, Haydn, Rachmaninov, Chopin, Brahms, Beethoven, Liszt, Debussy, along with the later pieces (the Argenitine tango composer Astor Piazzolla, great jazz by Michel Petrucciani). In addition to this, the programm includes poetry and literature nights as well as pop music performances.

Bulgarian Cinema in Rome

April 28th Minister of Education of Bulgaria will open the Festival of Bulgarian Cinema in the Cinema House in Villa Borghese Park, Rome. The first film to be shown is "After the world's end" by Ivan Nichev. Many celebrities, Bulgarian actors, directors, script writers along with officials like the Bulgarian Ambassador to Rome Atanas Mladenov, representatives of the Italian Ministry of Culture and even EU diplomats are expected to visit the event. Visitors can also see the exhibition of the Bulgarian posters made during the period between 1931 and 1988.

The Surface

On March, 17 the visitors of St.Stephen's School-Auditorium will have a chance to meet Jacob Burckhardt, a cult personality of the art world. Among the works directed and produced by Burckhardt are "It Don't Pay To Be An Honest Citizen", "Landlord Blues", "The Frankie Lymons Nephew Story", "Freedom Ho, Or Harriet Tubman's Tale" and "Louis The Fourteenth Street".
In Rome the director will present his latest work made in 2007. Titled "The Surface", this is a meditation on wind, water, trees and snow. There's also a love line, telling about the feeling found and lost.
The soundtrack is also worth a separate mentioning. Mixed live, it features rare recordings by such musicians as the pianist Norman Fontleroy, pianist Neal Kirkwood, Marc Ribot, Alvin Curran, members of Project Zlust, and others.

New Theatre Season At The Rome Opera House

Rome Opera House (Teatro dell'Opera di Roma) is a famous Italian opera theatre. It was originally opened in November 1880 as Constanzi Theatre, and since that time it underwent several changes of name and a number of reconstructions. The present building is one of the best opera houses in the world, which can accommodate up to 1,600 people.
Since 1 December you can purchase tickets for the theatre season-2008 in the box offices of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma.

Sleeping Beauty in Rome

   Teatro dell'Opera is staging the famous ballet by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. This is the second of three ballets composed in 1889. The original scenario was created by Ivan Vsevolozhsky who based it on Charles Perrault's La Belle au bois Dormant. The premiere took place at the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint.Petersburg in 1890 and met with great success.
   The ballet is considered to be the best work of the composer and has been staged all over the world. The Italian version is noted for exquisite costumes and wonderful performances. Don't miss one of the finest cultural events of Rome!
